Below is a look into the story and experiences that shaped who I am today.
Born in Wheaton, Illinois, I am the oldest of six children born over an eight-year period. They say that despite our best efforts, we all end up reflecting our parents in some way. To truly understand who I am, you have to know Thomas and Jennifer Ciombor.
Though my parents went to the same high school, they didn't speak until one day when my dad mustered the courage to approach my mom—a sophomore at the time—and say, "One day, I’m going to marry you." She thought he was out of his mind, but sure enough, 30 years later, they’re as inseparable as ever.
From an early age, my dad ingrained a core rule into his children: "NEVER BE AVERAGE." It stuck with me. In his book, terms like "can't" and "impossible" simply aren't allowed, a belief he passed down to all six of us.
Today, I owe so much to my parents for their tough love and high expectations. I certainly wouldn't be the successful designer I am today if I had taken the easy path. Now at 33, with solid industry experience under my belt and as a proud mother to my daughter, Liliya, I know that whenever I commit to a challenge—regardless of my starting point—I will show up, execute, and deliver for the people who count on me.
